Indian food has long been entwined in British culture. At any Indian restaurant in the country, you will find some dishes are authentically Indian, while others are a hybrid of Indian and British flavours. You can try the best of both at the reasonably priced Dishoom, a tapas-style Bombay brasserie at its Shoreditch and Covent Garden dining rooms. Vintage photos, advertisements, and ceiling fans add to the atmosphere. Try the famous black dal, cheese naan (the cheese is actually baked into the layers of the delicious fluffy flat bread), and the lovely sweet chai tea or authentically Indian Limca soft drink (lime flavoured).
There is often a queue at dinner, so be prepared to wait (minimum booking for dinner is 6 people) or head over for breakfast or lunch when tables are plentiful.
